Job Description:

The Shipping and Delivery Driver – Windows and Doors is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of windows, doors, and related components to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This position requires excellent customer service, careful handling of fragile and heavy items, and effective route planning. The driver will ensure that products are delivered in pristine condition and in compliance with all safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Delivery of Windows and Doors:
    • Safely deliver windows, doors, and related components (e.g., frames, locks, hardware) to customer locations.
    • Ensure that windows and doors are securely packed and transported to prevent damage.
    • Unload and deliver items to customer homes or businesses, assisting with heavy or bulky items as necessary.
    • Confirm that all deliveries are made on time and in accordance with the customer’s order.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Communicate professionally with customers to ensure satisfaction and provide any necessary installation or maintenance guidance.
    • Collect signatures and verify the receipt of delivered goods.
    • Address any customer concerns or issues in a courteous and timely manner.
  3. Route Planning and Optimization:
    • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
    • Utilize GPS or other navigation tools to optimize delivery schedules.
    • Monitor traffic, weather, and road conditions to make adjustments to routes when necessary.
  4. Handling and Protection of Products:
    • Ensure that all windows and doors are properly handled to prevent scratches, dents, or other damage.
    • Use specialized equipment (e.g., moving blankets, straps) to secure products in the delivery vehicle.
    • Check that all items are correctly accounted for before leaving the warehouse, and verify delivery quantities upon arrival.
  5. Inventory and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, including delivery times, customer information, and any issues encountered during the delivery.
    • Handle any return or exchange requests, and coordinate the return of products to the warehouse if required.
    • Assist in updating and managing stock levels when necessary, especially in cases of damaged or returned items.
  6. Safety and Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Perform regular safety checks on the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition (e.g., brakes, tires, lights).
    • Keep the vehicle clean and organized, ensuring that the windows, doors, and other materials are stored securely.
    • Follow all local and federal driving laws and safety regulations while on the road.
  7. Job Site Clean-Up:
    • Ensure that the job site is left clean and free from debris after delivering and unloading items.
    • Dispose of packaging materials or old products as directed by the company’s policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Driving Experience: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and experience operating a delivery truck or van.
  • Heavy Lifting: Ability to lift and carry heavy or large items, including windows and doors, which may require team assistance or specialized equipment.
  • Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude when interacting with clients.
