Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Replacement:
    • Install a wide range of windows (e.g., double-hung, sliding, casement) and doors (e.g., entry doors, sliding patio doors, storm doors) in new and existing buildings.
    • Remove old or damaged windows and doors, ensuring the surrounding frame is intact and prepared for new installation.
    • Install hardware such as locks, handles, and weather stripping.
  2. Measurement and Preparation:
    • Accurately measure window and door openings, ensuring proper fit for installation.
    • Prepare window and door frames to ensure they are square, level, and ready for new units.
  3. Customer Interaction:
    • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure that expectations are met and to provide excellent customer service.
    • Address customer concerns and provide maintenance or care instructions for their new installations.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure windows and doors are properly sealed and insulated to maximize energy efficiency and prevent drafts.
    • Inspect finished work for proper operation, ensuring windows and doors open, close, and lock correctly.
  5. Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and quality installations.
    • Use tools and equipment in accordance with safety standards, wearing protective gear as necessary.
  6. Job Site Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness of the work area during and after installation.
    • Remove debris, including old windows and doors, and dispose of it according to company procedures.
  7. Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Regularly maintain and ensure proper functioning of installation tools, such as drills, saws, and caulking guns.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in window and door installation or a related field (carpentry, construction).
  • Technical skills: Proficient with hand and power tools used for installation.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Ability to handle complex installations and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Attention to detail: Precision in measuring and ensuring proper installation.
  • Customer service: Friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with customers.
  • Physical stamina: Capable of lifting heavy windows and doors, working at heights, and performing manual labor.
  • Driver's license: Valid driver’s license to travel to different job sites.
  • Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal training or apprenticeship in carpentry, construction, or window/door installation is preferred.
  • Certification in installation (e.g., from the American Window and Door Institute) is a plus.
